Dear Friends of ZuZu,
How rewarding it’s been to see the evolution of the hotel over the past two and a half years. My friends who haven’t visited for a few months are startled how mature and lush the grounds look. If they visit on a Saturday they are also startled by the lively crowd at the pool. While the music, cabanas and cocktails certainly have their allure, I happen to think the food is the star; crisp, cool salads and savory, hot, melty panini; each ingredient chosen with great purpose.

The warmer weather hasn’t deterred us from our Monday night mission of providing memorable food & beverage experiences. We felt it would be appropriate to compose our first menu in July around an icy cold beverage, so we invited New Belgium Brewing to join us on July 14th. Their remarkably well-balanced amber “Fat Tire” is already an American icon, and their “Skinny Dip” is one of my favorite summer brews. If you love carefully crafted beers as much as I do, mark your calendars for this special dinner.

Over 25 years ago Matanzas Creek Winery established a lasting tradition -- a commitment to producing exceptional wines sourced from the finest Sonoma County vineyards. The estate is located in Bennett Valley, which was recently recognized as Sonoma County’s newest American Viticulture Appellation (AVA). The unique location captures a direct cool air stream from the ocean which promotes a cooler, longer growing season that results in intense, more complex wines. Our favorite sommelier, Pat Jasmin, will lead us through a sampling of these luscious wines.

It's fun to reflect on the continuous improvements we’ve made to the building such as our wall of “champagne bubble” mirrors in the lounge. However, it takes more than furniture to make a place truly special. The defining characteristic of ZuZu, aside from the food, is our amazing staff and their intense desire to provide sincere, genuine hospitality. I deeply appreciate their conviction and you for being our guests. Enjoy your long weekend, and hope we see you soon!

Happy Fourth of July!
All the best, Chuck Wiley Executive Chef
